LOVELY CITY KURUKSHETRA

Kurukshetra is a important historical place of India. Geographically it comes under the north east part of Haryana state. The place bears a great historical value and mythologically it is an important place for Hindus. The place is also entitled as Dharmakshetra which means "Holy City". The place is closely related to the epic Mahabharata and the illuminous Kurukshetra War was fought here. It holds a religious ambiance and well specified as a holy place for Hindus as it is believed that Bhagavad Gita was preached here by Lord Krishna during the war of Kurukshetra.
Thanesar or Sthaneswar is the a nearest historical town. Kurukshetra city and Thanesar both are visited by a huge pilgrim every year. Based on the etymology, the place got its name after King Kuru who is known as the ancestor of Pandavas and Kauravas in Mahabharata. Thanesar, an adjacent place of Kurukshetra, was known as "Sthaneshwar" or "Place of God". The place boasts of an ancient Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple. Other than thaneswar, Amin is an another place which also carries a historical value with its old fort that is considered as the Abhimanyu's fort. So Kurukshetra, Thanesar and Amin these three places make a religious tourist hub in the state of Haryana. Among them Kurukshetra lead a vital role in the Haryana tourism. It is a popular destination for Hindu devotees. The place also dotted with many holy temples, sacred places, Kunds and several Gurudwaras.
The place significantly well connected with the history of Indian civilization. It dates back to the 2800 BC. It experienced the Vedic Civilization and was known as Bhrahmadevi, Uttaravedi, Brajhmakshetra and Dharamkshetra in different times. Ideally located on the bank of river Drishadvati and Sarasvati the place witnessed many historical incidents. Based on the historical evidences it is said that the place witnessed Pre-Harappa period and the time of great king Asoka and Harsha. It holds a sanctified out look as it is related to Lord Buddha and Sikh Gurus. The place holds some prominent tourist destinations included Brahma Sarovar, Jyotisar, Sannihit Sarovar, Dharohar, Kessel Mall, Light and Sound Show, Kalpana Chawla Planetarium, Saraswati Forest Reserve, Bhishma Kund at Naraktari, Krishna Museum, Sheikh Chehli ka makbara, Kamal Nabhi, Sthaneshwar Mahadev, Birla Mandir, Valmiki Ashram , Pehowa, Mathana and Ban Ganga in village.
The place holds some Gurdwaras such as Gurdwara Siddh Bati Patshahi Pahili, Gurdwara Teesari Patshahi, Gurdwara Raj Ghat Patshahi Dasvin and Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi. "Somavati Amavasya" is a prominent occasion which is celebrated at Brahma Sarovar. Somavati Amavasya is a no moon day and it happens on Monday and it is believed that taking bath in that holy sarovar on that auspicious day can remove all sins. Sannihit Sarovar is an another pious sarovar which contains the sacred water that allows to perform the ashvamedh yajna. Jyotisar is vital place and a pious site where Bhagavad Gita was perched by lord Krishna. Krishna Museum exhibits the paintings related to the Mahabharata war. Bhishma Kund at Naraktari, Valmiki Ashram-each and every place significantly depicts the old stories which hold a great religious value for Hindus.
